What is horsemanship?
The term “horsemanship” or “being a horseman” represents a “horse handler” — someone who develops a safe, humane bond in a partnership built on trust. A person can be a great rider but not a great horseman. To be a horseman is to regard your relationship with horses as a privilege. It begins with honesty and understanding how horses think. The horse is the teacher. We must learn to understand how horses communicate, respect their boundaries, and build a relationship founded on trust. What is the age requirement?
If you’re looking for lessons for your kid - our program is tailored for children aged 6 and up. At this age, kids can safely interact with horses, learn riding techniques, and begin to absorb the deeper life lessons that come with caring for and working alongside these amazing animals. If your child is younger, we can offer a condition-based analysis to assess whether or not they’re ready for riding lessons with us. We also offer lessons for adults - our school has a ton of new and seasoned riders, so you’re not alone!

Our program
At Magnolia Meadows Riding School, we begin with a three-month commitment. This introductory period allows you or your child to settle into the rhythm of horseback riding, build confidence, and discover the pace and frequency of lessons that feel right for you/them.
Every lesson includes:
- Horsemanship – learning to understand, handle, and care for horses with respect and responsibility.
- Riding time – developing balance, coordination, and skill in the saddle.
- A tailored experience – instruction adjusted to your or your child’s comfort level, personality, and progress.

About us
At Magnolia Meadows Ranch, we believe it’s never too early—or too late—to fall in love with horses. Whether you’re bringing your child for their first ride, getting back into the saddle after a break, or learning something new just for you—this is your place. We welcome riders of all ages and experience levels with open arms (and soft muzzles!).
We care deeply about both our riders and our horses. They share equal importance here. Every horse in our program is treated like family—never overworked, always respected, and cared for with high-quality, professional equipment. As of today, 15 amazing horses are part of our lesson program, each one with their own personality and purpose.
You’ll notice the difference right away. We invest in our horses’ well-being so they can give you their best—calm, confident, and ready to connect. Our instructors teach English and Western styles in both private and group formats, and every lesson is adapted to meet your comfort and goals. We also have a covered arena, so even when the weather turns, your ride goes on.

🎠 What is the right age to start horseback riding lessons?
As soon as your child is able to focus and follow directions, they can start—typically around age 6.
👩 Are the lessons just for kids or can adults get lessons too?
Magnolia Meadows Ranch offers riding lessons for BOTH children and adults! We have a ton of adult riders that are either coming back into riding, want to start something new, or just want to ride for pleasure & relaxation. You’re not alone! We even have parents that ride with their children as a form of bonding and being outdoors.
💰 How much do lessons cost?
This will depend on your chosen lessons during enrollment. Our average lesson includes about 30 minutes in the saddle, plus 15–30 minutes of horsemanship (grooming, tacking, groundwork). It’s a full experience, not just riding time.
🐎 Do I need experience to start?
Not at all! Most of our riders are beginners. You just need a great attitude and love for horses—we’ll help with the rest.
🛡️ How safe is horseback riding?
Safety is always a priority. We pair riders with gentle horses and provide full supervision. But—it’s a sport. You should be mentally prepared that one day, you might fall. We teach you how to fall safer, too.
👥 Are lessons private or group?
Both are available. Private lessons offer focused attention, while group sessions add a social, confidence-building element.

🐴 Do I need to own a horse?
Nope! We provide the horse, tack, and all necessary equipment. Just bring your curiosity and energy.

If you’re able to walk, move around, and listen to instruction—you can ride. Riding builds strength and balance as you go.
🏋️ Is there a weight limit?
Yes! We cannot take on riders who weigh more than 220lbs for the safety of both the rider and the horses.
